Looking to make your vMix livestream look more professional? Whether you’re covering football, basketball, tennis, or anything else, adding a live scoreboard overlay can make a huge difference — and it’s surprisingly simple.
In this walkthrough, I’ll show you how to use a browser-based tool like OBScoreboard to add dynamic, real-time graphics to your stream. No downloads or tech headaches — just a link, a few quick tweaks, and you’re up and running with a broadcast-quality overlay in no time.
Step 1: Create Your Soccer Scoreboard Overlay on OBScoreboard
Start by heading over to OBScoreboard.com and creating an account — or just log in if you’ve already got one.
Once you’re in the dashboard:
- Click on “Create New Overlay”.
- Give your overlay a title like “Man United vs Chelsea“, choose “Soccer” from the list of sports, and if you like, add a short description for the match.
Step 2: Add Overlay to Live Stream
- Pick the scoreboard style you’d like to use for your stream, then hit “Add Overlay” to drop it into your project.
Step 3: Set up your match details
Now it’s time to configure your stream. Start by adding team names, colours, and other match settings:
-
Head to the Teams section and either select existing teams or create new ones.
-
Choose your team colours to match their kits or branding.
-
Double-check the half length is correct for your match format.
-
If you need to adjust where the scoreboard appears on screen, click the Edit Position icon in the scoreboard layer.
-
Once everything’s set, click Update to save your changes.
Step 4: Click go live
- Once you have configured your scoreboard, click go live.
Step 5: Click “Copy Stream Link”
- Next you’re going to click copy strea link and paste this into OBS.
Step 6: Connect the overlay to vMix
To add the browser source to your vMix stream, simply click the “Add Input” button on the bottom right-hand corner of the dashboard. This will allow you to add a link to your OBScoreboard overlays.
Step 7: Paste the URL and click OK
Click on Web Browser, then paste the link into the URL field and finally click OK to add the browser source to vMix.
Step 8: Add the overlay over your video stream.
If your video source is on Tab 1, just click the small number 1 in the overlay tab. This links the overlay specifically to Tab 1, so it appears with the correct video input, like in the example below.
